    Dr. Eugene Handel

    Veterinarian
    Dr. Handel has loved animals since he was a boy in Milton, Massachusetts, where he used to scare his mother with frogs and snakes.  He earned a B.S. in biology from Purdue University, graduating in 1976.  He then went on to study veterinary medicine at the University of Bologna, Italy, where he graduated in 1981.

    Dr. Handel has many professional interests, including geriatrics, avian medicine, pain management, and behavior.

    Dr. Handel loves boating, hiking, music (especially jazz and blues,) traveling, and reading.  He is a big Red Sox fan.  He lives with his wife, Terry, in Hampstead.  He has two children, Ian and Laurel, a standard poodle named Louis Pierre Francois Vuitton, and a cat, Simon Oscar de la Renta.  Simon was an adoption cat found under a porch at 3 weeks of age.  He is beautiful now!

  • Dr. James Belanger

    Veterinarian

    Dr Jim grew up in Hollis surrounded by dogs, cats, sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, cows and horses.  Dr Jim was very active in 4-H into college earning his BS in Animal Sciences at UNH, Durham in 1986.  He was awarded his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991.

    Dr Jim joined the team at Handel With Care Veterinary Hospital in 2014.  While he has worn many hats in his career, he truly enjoys working with the animals and their people.  Dr Jim’s professional interests are in geriatric animal medicine, pain control and natural veterinary medicine.

    Dr Jim shares his life with his wife, their two grown children, Gigi, their Border Collie, Scottie, their Jack Russell Terrier and Peanut, the cat.

    Practice Manager
    Kim has worked at Handel with Care since 2004, and holds a  degree in business and entrepreneurship.  She lives locally with her son, Shane, whom she absolutely adores.  When she's not working, Kim enjoys snowmobiling, cars, trying new things, and spending time with her son.  She's mom to Fred, Remy and Karly.  Kim has completed AAHA's Veterinary Practice Management Institute at Purdue University and is on her way to becoming a Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM).

  • Terry and Dr. Handel

    Terry

    Business Manager
    Terry has been with Handel with Care from the beginning.  A native midwesterner, Terry has been in New England for more than 30 years, and in the Derry area for more than 25.  When she's not in the office, Terry enjoys all types of art, including jewelry design, altered art, and gardening.  Much of the artwork in the office is Terry's.  She has two grown children, Ian and Laurel. You may have seen her standard poodle, Louie, around the office.  The Handel's adopted a cat, which they named Simon Oscar de la Renta.  They recently lost their ancient dachshund, Chocolate.

    Veterinary Technician
    Tabatha has practically grown up at Handel with Care, starting when she was just 18 years old.  She took to veterinary medicine like a duck to water.  Tabatha grew up in the Bay State and has lived in New Hampshire for many years.  Tabatha has two beautiful dogs Katie and a black dog named Mae, who came to her lost and frightened of people, dogs and anything that moved!  Now she's sleek, happy, loves people and other dogs.  Tabatha and her husband have two identical twin daughters and a handsome baby boy!

    Melany has been a technician at Handel with Care for several years.  She is a proud grandmother.  Melany live locally with her dog Chudleigh, and her cats, Balou and Mowgli.  Melany has three beautiful daughters, Krysta, Kaleigh, and Kara.

    When Melany has spare time she loves to workout, walk with Chudleigh, and watch movies.

    Sue has been at Handel with Care for years.  She lives locally with her husband, Phil.  Sue has two grown children, Julie-Anne, and Anthony.

    Kayla has been a part of the Handel with Care family since 2013.  Kayla recently graduated from Great Bay Community College with a degree in Veterinary Technology!  Kayla plans to take the VTNE this year to become certified.  She is proud mom to 2 dogs, Lucy and Shea Shea and has a feisty cat named Tazz.  When Kayla has free time she enjoys: swimming and spending time with her family.

    Lisa, a receptionist at HWC for several years.  She grew up near Boston, but now lives locally in her new house!  She's very close to her family - mom, dad and brother, Joey.  Art, animals, and music are a big part of her life.  When she's not at work, Lisa likes to hang out with family and friends, and she also likes to go to the beach.  She has two cats, Corona and Rosie, who she loves, even when they're crazy!  She misses her pitbull Kayne terribly.

    Judy has been part of the Handel with Care family for a few years.  She lives locally with her husband, Mark.  She has two grown daughters, Kim and Kristy.  She absolutely adores her 2 cats, Billy and "H", she also has a cockatiel named Pee-Wee.  Judy has a passion for birds and is involved in Avian rescue groups.  She loves to learn about animals.

    When Judy is not at Handel with Care, she enjoys spending time with her grandson, being outside, and reading.  She is a huge fan of the New England Patriots.

    Groomer
    Carol, our motorcycling groomer, has been grooming at HWC since 2000.  She and her husband Tim have eight four-legged friends, including five cats, two Italian Greyhounds, and one lovely Schipperke.  Born and raised in Manchester, Carol and Tim lived in Alaska for several years.  In her spare time, you'll find Carol on a motorcycle visiting antique stores.
